here are the details on 10-Free Cosmetics

Fiercely Kind nail polish is 10-free, meaning we do not use the known carcinogens and hormone disrupters commonly found in cosmetics. It also means we don't use animal products in our nail products, and we do not participate in animal testing

Here is a list of 10 things you won’t find in our nail products:

Dibutyl Phtalate - EWG (Environmental Working Group) score of 10, which means it is considered highly hazardous. It is known to be a hormone disrupter organ system toxin, developmental toxin, and reproductive toxin. Dibutyl Phtalate is also toxic to our environment

Toluene - EWG score of 10 (highly toxic). Known carcinogen which is toxic to the organ system, developmental and reproductive system. The use of Toluene has been restricted overseas because it has been found to be unsafe and labeled as an occupational hazard and environmental toxin

Formaldehyde - EWG score of 10. Formaldehyde is a carcinogen, skin and respiratory allergen, and organ system toxin. Its classification as an occupational hazard and environmental hazard has caused use of this chemical to be restricted overseas

Formaldehyde Resin - Can cause skin irritation and is an organ system toxin and allergen. Also considered an environmental toxin

Camphor - Camphor is toxic if ingested even in small amounts. Ingestion can cause nausea and headaches which is bad news for nail biters and those with children who tend to put their (or your) fingers in their mouth

Xylene - EWG score of 8 (highly hazardous). Xylene is known to be a nervous system toxin, organ system toxin and developmental and reproductive toxin. It is also considered a skin irritant and occupational hazard

Ethyl Tosylamide - This chemical has been banned in the EU because it has been found unsafe due to its antibiotic properties and concerns over antibiotic resistance

Parabens - Known hormone disrupter and skin allergen/toxin. Also a potential developmental/reproductive toxin

Fragrance - This represents an undisclosed mixture of chemicals. These mixtures could contain potential respiratory toxins, respiratory irritants, immune system toxins and allergens. (Fragrances are not necessarily dangerous, but need to come from a trusted source)

Animal Ingredients - This is the one I get asked about the most. The word “vegan” is often only associated with food. Believe it or not, many cosmetics contain animal ingredients. A lot of companies use a red pigment called carmine (also known as cochineal, cochineal extract, crimson lake, carmine lake, natural red4, C.I. 75470 or E120) which is made from the ground bodies of dried beetles. Many also use fish scales for shimmer and shine. These ingredients are commonly found in cosmetics such as nail polish, blush, and even lipstick
